Purpose
The purpose of the Peer Mentor Program is to provide support for freshmen in their transition to Whitnall High School. The following are the core goals of Falcon Peer Mentors.
- Build quality relationships between Falcon Peer Mentors, freshmen, and staff.
- Create a smooth transition for freshmen
- Support a positive school climate
- Increase freshmen involvement within school activities.
- Help reduce detentions, truancies, absences, and failure rates for freshmen.
Why are Peer Mentors Important to WHS?
WHS peer mentors set the culture of the school by:
- Being role models. We model how we want the culture of the school to be.
- We help 9th graders adjust to high school
- We teach the values of WHS to 9th graders.
- We improve the culture of the school by creating the culture of WHS in our actions.
How will being a Falcon Peer Mentor benefit me?
- You will be a key part of building a positive school community.
- Improve your communication skills and leadership skills.
- Shows colleges you apply to that you will be a positive addition to their campus.

Anyone who will be a 10th, 11th, or 12th grade student in the 2024-2025 school year is eligible to apply.
